St. Dominic Catholic Church is a bilingual Catholic parish on the west side of San Antonio, Texas, located at 5919 Ingram Road. Named for St. Dominic de Guzmán, founder of the Order of Preachers, the parish began in 1966 when the Archdiocese of San Antonio purchased land, was officially established in 1971, and dedicated its permanent church on December 19, 2009. Today it serves more than 1,200 registered families and welcomes over 1,500 worshippers each weekend, offering Mass in both English and Spanish along with a robust slate of ministries for every age and stage of life.

Our Parish
St. Dominic Catholic Church began in 1966, when the Archdiocese of San Antonio purchased land at 5919 Ingram Road. In the early days, Mass was celebrated outdoors in the open fields, bringing together a small but devoted community. The congregation soon gathered in the basement of St. Andrew Episcopal Church until a temporary building was set up on parish property in 1970. Officially established as a parish in 1971, St. Dominic has grown alongside the San Antonio community. After decades of dedication, prayer, and generous support, the parish's permanent church was completed and dedicated on December 19, 2009. Today, St. Dominic's continues to flourish, serving more than 1,200 registered parishioners and welcoming over 1,500 worshippers each weekend.

Our Patron: St. Dominic de Guzmán
The parish takes its name from St. Dominic de Guzmán, founder of the Order of Preachers. Born in Spain in the late 12th century, St. Dominic devoted his life to preaching the truth of the Gospel, encouraging devotion to the Rosary, and fostering education in the faith. Inspired by his deep love for Christ and his passion for sharing God's Word, the parish strives to follow his example — to be preachers not only in word but in the way they live, love, and serve others. The Church celebrates his feast day on August 8.

Faith Formation
Faith Formation at St. Dominic is coordinated by Sister Mercedes Castillo and includes ongoing religious education for children and youth (CCD), preparation for the sacraments, and adult formation through OCIA (the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults). Adult Confirmation is coordinated through Deacon Ray Gonzales, and the Rooted in Christ young-adult ministry supports parishioners in their 20s and 30s.

Devotions, Counseling & Ongoing Programs
Devotional life at St. Dominic centers on the daily Rosary before Mass, a monthly First Saturday devotion at the St. Dominic Chapel led by Deacon Ray Gonzales, an annual Abortion Novena in mid-November, and periodic parish-wide Teaching Masses and celebrations like Friendsgiving. The parish also offers on-site counseling and a weekly Saturday Bible Study that alternates between men and women, meeting in person (Molchen Hall) and on Google Meet.

Sacraments & Sacramental Preparation
Parishioners can arrange the sacraments through the parish office. Faith Formation staff help prepare children and adults for First Communion, Confirmation, and OCIA, while the office coordinates weddings, quinceañeras, funerals, anointings, and baptisms. Quinceañera blessings require the young woman to be a practicing Catholic who has received Baptism and First Communion, enrollment in Confirmation preparation, at least one year of parish registration, and attendance at the required Quinceañera retreat.
