History
St. Dominic Parish has its roots in two earlier Saginaw Catholic communities. Ss. Peter and Paul was founded in 1864 for Catholics living south of Court Street; its cornerstone was laid June 12, 1887, and the brick church — designed by Saginaw architect F.W. Hollister — was dedicated October 21, 1888. By 1960, it claimed to be the largest Catholic congregation in the city. After late-1960s conversations about replacing the aging structure, the community moved into a new church on West Michigan Avenue at South Center on October 2, 1976, salvaging stained-glass sections from the 1888 building. Ss. Peter and Paul was eventually clustered with St. Stephen Church to form today's St. Dominic Parish; for several years the parish used both worship sites, and the former Ss. Peter and Paul building on West Michigan Avenue is now listed for sale.

Mass & Worship Schedule
The parish offers a full weekly schedule of Masses celebrated in English at St. Stephen Church, including a Saturday Vigil, two Sunday Masses, and three weekday Masses, plus an additional First Saturday morning Mass. Reconciliation is offered on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with the ability to schedule appointments outside those times. Eucharistic Adoration takes place twice a month on Wednesdays before the parish's regular Wednesday evening Mass.

Liturgical Ministries
St. Dominic Parish invites parishioners to take an active role in the Sacred Liturgy through a number of lay ministries. From proclaiming the Word and serving at the altar to leading the assembly's song, welcoming worshippers at the door, or running the projection system, there is a place for nearly every age and talent. The Music Ministry, Cantor and Choir programs, and the Homebound/Senior Living Ministry round out a robust liturgical life that extends the parish's care beyond the church walls.

- Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion — distributes the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass and to the sick and homebound.

- Projection Ministry — runs Mass slides (ages 15+; basic computer and Mass knowledge helpful).
- Cantor Ministry — leads the assembly's singing of the psalm, alleluia, hymns and acclamations.
- Choir Ministry — open to ages 16+, no audition required.
- Senior Living Ministry — brings Holy Communion to nursing-home residents.
- Homebound Ministry — supports those bringing Communion to the sick.
