St. Dominic Parish is a Roman Catholic community in Saginaw, Michigan, in the Diocese of Saginaw (Vicariate 3). The parish describes its mission as striving 'to spread the Gospel through prayer, study, community and service,' and its vision as forming disciples who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through worship, prayer, and study of the Scriptures, and who serve the poor within the community and beyond. The parish takes its name and inspiration from St. Dominic, and its motto is taken from Luke 12:49: 'I have come to set the world on fire!'

History of the Parish
St. Dominic Parish was established on July 1, 2015, when Bishop Joseph R. Cistone and the Diocese of Saginaw merged St. Stephen Parish and Ss. Peter and Paul Parish into a single new community. Each parish had submitted three proposed new names and parishioners voted on the new name, St. Dominic. The community is rooted in the long history of its predecessor parishes, particularly Ss. Peter and Paul, which was founded in the 1880s in Saginaw's Sixth Ward.

- Predecessor parishes: St. Stephen (parish church) and Ss. Peter and Paul (additional-use church).
- Ss. Peter and Paul cornerstone laid June 12, 1887; church dedicated October 21, 1888.
- Original 1888 Ss. Peter and Paul church designed by architect F.W. Hollister; cost $15,000.
- By 1960, Ss. Peter and Paul claimed the largest Catholic congregation in Saginaw.
- Current Ss. Peter and Paul church opened October 2, 1976; stained-glass sections from the 1888 building were preserved and installed in the new church.

Parish Ministries
St. Dominic Parish offers a range of liturgical and pastoral ministries in which parishioners can become involved. The parish maintains online ministry pamphlets, a ministry schedule portal for active ministers, and an enrollment form for those interested in volunteering.
- Cantor Ministry — leads the assembly in psalm, alleluia, hymns and acclamations.
- Choir Ministry — open to all ages 16+ with no auditions; rehearses twice monthly on Tuesdays at 6:15pm; sings for the 10:30am Mass twice per month.
- Senior Living Ministry — distributes Communion to homebound parishioners and nursing home residents.
- Homebound Ministry — supports those taking Holy Communion to the sick and homebound (with prayer guides).
- Liturgy ministry (under the Director of Music and Liturgy).
- Volunteer parish ministries — enrollment available via the Ministry Enrollment Form.
Faith Formation
Faith Formation at St. Dominic Parish is directed by Nikki Bakos, Director of Faith Formation. The parish invites families with children needing Baptism or religious education to contact the parish office to begin the process. Sacramental preparation and ongoing catechesis are coordinated through the parish office.

Sacraments

The parish community worships across two church sites inherited from the 2015 merger. St. Stephen Church is the parish church, while Ss. Peter and Paul Church on West Michigan Avenue is designated a church for additional use. The parish office is located on Mackinaw Street.
