History
St. Dominic’s Church and School provide a strong spiritual and academic presence in a growing Benicia. Founded in 1854 by Dominican priest Fr. Francis Vilarrasa, the parish grew to include St. Dominic’s Church, dedicated in 1890. St. Catherine’s School was founded in the 1850s and operated for over a century until 1966. The parish rectory was built in 1956, and the current parochial school opened in 1961 and remains active today.
