The parish traces its roots to 1959 and today serves a multilingual Catholic community with daily and Sunday Masses, regular Confession, Eucharistic Adoration, and an active school and religious education program. Parish History
St. Coleman was founded on May 23, 1959, when Bishop Coleman F. Carroll transferred Father Fogarty from Our Lady of the Assumption Mission to begin a new parish on Federal Highway. The school — first called Our Lady of Assumption School, staffed by Franciscan Sisters from Illinois — opened just two weeks after Pope Pius XII divided the Diocese of St. Augustine and the new Diocese of Miami was created. The school was renamed St. Coleman School and Bishop Carroll dedicated the church in 1960. The parish has continued to grow through five pastorates, with a new church building dedicated in 1986 and ongoing expansions funded in part by an annual Italian Festival.

Pastor and Clergy
Father Andrew Tomonto is the current pastor of St. Coleman. He previously spent his diaconate year (2020) and two years as a parochial vicar at the parish before assignments at Little Flower in Coral Gables and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. He returns to lead a parish served with two parochial vicars, Father Michael A. Garcia (fifth pastor, 2018–2025) and Father Piotr Sawicki.

Parish Ministries and Outreach
The parish encourages all the baptized to live as missionary disciples through service. Liturgical ministries (Altar Servers, Extraordinary Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Hospitality Ministers, and Music Ministry) support the parish's Masses, while outreach ministries like the St. Vincent de Paul Society extend material help to neighbors in need. Sacraments
St. Coleman celebrates the seven sacraments and offers resources to help parishioners prepare for them. Couples considering marriage are asked to begin preparation at least six months before their desired wedding date, and pre-marriage counseling is offered. Funerals are coordinated jointly with a funeral director and the parish funeral coordinator.

St. Coleman Catholic School
St. Coleman Catholic School, located at 2250 SE 12th Street in Pompano Beach, is a Pre-K through 8th-grade Catholic school serving about 1,100 children together with the parish Religious Education program. The school was founded alongside the parish in 1959, originally staffed by Franciscan Sisters from Illinois, and has grown over decades to include classroom expansions, computer and science labs, a media center, a parish hall, and an outdoor gymnasium. Teachers hold baccalaureate or higher degrees and follow Standards of Ethical Conduct. The school integrates Catholic identity throughout the week with all-school Wednesday Masses, retreats for Communion, Confirmation, and other sacraments, and a 'Value of the Month' program.
