St. Clare Catholic Church is a vibrant, joyfully welcoming Eucharistic community in Roseville, California, belonging to the Diocese of Sacramento (Placer County, West Placer Deanery). Established in 1995 from roots that began in 1992, it has grown into the largest parish in the Diocese of Sacramento with over 8,000 registered families, 71 ministries, and more than 600 children in Faith Formation. The parish celebrates Mass in English daily and offers a monthly Spanish Mass, with confessions on Tuesday afternoons and Saturday mornings and Friday Eucharistic Adoration. History of St. Clare Parish
Founded as a Mass by Fr. Ben Deleon in August 1992 and formally established as St. Clare in 1995, the community has grown from humble beginnings in Antelope to become the largest parish in the Diocese of Sacramento. Key milestones include the appointment of Fr. Colin McDonald as first pastor in December 1994, the dedication of the new church on January 27, 2002, the dedication of Morris Hall in 2006, and the dedication of the Evangelist Center in 2013. A new multi-purpose hall is planned to begin construction in summer 2026, with a possible school and rectory envisioned in the parish master plan.

Faith Formation K–12th Grade
St. Clare's Faith Formation program is rooted in the idea of the family as the 'domestic church,' where parents are the first catechists of their children. The parish continues its Family Catechesis program for the 2025–2026 school year, aiming to initiate families into lifelong faith formation centered on the life of Christ. Programs are offered for every grade level from kindergarten through 12th grade, including an Adaptive Faith Formation track for children with disabilities.

Middle School and High School ministries support teens through the Confirmation process and beyond, with youth nights, service projects, retreats, and the Fired Up! Confirmation Conference. Young adults in their 20s and 30s gather through YouFra, meeting in the St. Luke room from 6:30–8:00 PM. Adults seeking to complete their initiation can pursue Adult Confirmation (contact David Halsey at (916) 778-7408) or enter the parish's OCIA process.

Sacraments
St. Clare celebrates all the major Catholic sacraments, with preparation programs for each. Baptism welcomes individuals and families into the Church; First Reconciliation and First Eucharist are typically received in a two-year process beginning in 1st grade. Confirmation for youth is a two-year process in 7th–12th grade; adult Confirmation is available for baptized Catholics 18+. The Marriage preparation process begins with the Wedding Request Form, and couples seeking convalidation or annulments are also served. Sick calls and the Anointing of the Sick are supported through the Homebound Ministry.

Liturgical ministries include Readers, Altar Servers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Sacristans, Ushers, Art & Environment ministers, Music Ministers, Wedding Coordinators, and Funeral Ministry. Outreach and community ministries include the Golden Hearts Ministry for seniors 55+ and the Homebound Ministry, which brings Holy Communion to parishioners unable to attend Mass.

St. Clare is led by Pastor Rev. George T. Snyder, Jr., ordained June 29, 2007, who previously served at St. Mel in Fair Oaks and as pastor of St. Joseph in Redding and St. Michael Mission in Shasta Lake. He is assisted by Parochial Vicar Rev. Eric Patrick and several deacons. The parish also maintains a lay staff supporting Faith Formation, liturgy, business, facilities, and administration.

Visiting, Registering & Getting Involved
St. Clare welcomes new parishioners, returning Catholics, and visitors alike. The parish encourages registration through its online New Parishioner form and offers a Monday online Rosary Prayer Gathering (7:00 PM via Zoom, contact Rita Schillin at (916) 223-4073). Facilities & Future Growth
The parish campus includes the main church (dedicated 2002), Morris Hall (dedicated 2006), and the Evangelist Center (dedicated 2013). Construction of a new multi-purpose hall is planned to start in summer 2026 to support the parish's continued growth, with the master plan envisioning a future school and rectory as well.
