The parish actively runs a National Plan for Hispanic Ministry, Spanish-language Bible classes, a gift shop (Tiendita de Regalos), RCIA / 'Becoming Catholic' (Quiero Ser Católico), and a charismatic-trial schedule of daily devotions such as the daily Rosary at 8:00 AM. History of St. Christopher Parish
St. Christopher Catholic Church holds the distinction of being the first Catholic parish in Southern Nevada. According to the UNLV Special Collections archive, the parish dates back to 1909 and was originally located on Las Vegas Boulevard North. On September 6, 1959, the last Mass was celebrated at that original site before the parish relocated to its present home at 1800 Bruce Street (now 1840 N. Bruce St.). The current church building opened in 1964, when the Lake Mead Boulevard and Bruce Street neighborhood was still on the developing edge of the Las Vegas valley. In 2022 the parish was the subject of a Las Vegas Sun article noting that despite a diocesan closure effort, St. Christopher remained open and the diocese expressed hope for its continued ministry.
