St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church is a 900-family parish serving Northeast Minneapolis and St. Anthony Village from its campus at 2739 Stinson Blvd NE, Saint Anthony, Minnesota, within the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. Founded in December 1938 by Father Charles F. Doran — who named it after his own patron saint — the parish grew rapidly in the post-World War II era and built one of the most beautiful mid-century church complexes in the metropolitan area. History of St. Charles Borromeo Parish
The parish was conceived in December 1938 when Archbishop John Gregory Murray appointed Father Charles F. Doran to found a new parish on the northeastern edge of Minneapolis. Father Doran — who named it after his own patron saint — celebrated the first Mass in the home of Roy F. Miller on Benjamin Street with about 50 people in attendance. By fall 1939 the parish had acquired a six-acre tract on the southeast corner of Stinson and St. Anthony Boulevards and completed a combined church/school/convent facility. The parish school opened September 15, 1939, originally taught by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Post-World War II growth led to one of the most beautiful mid-century church complexes in the metropolitan area.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
Formation is offered across the lifespan, from preschool through adult OCIA. The school and parish collaborate on sacramental preparation, with First Reconciliation and First Communion in 2nd grade and Confirmation in 8th grade.

St. Charles Catholic School
St. Charles Borromeo School is an on-site K-8 Catholic school whose motto is 'Faith and Knowledge For Life.' Founded alongside the parish in 1939, the school has had two major additions and offers preschool through 8th grade academics, sacramental preparation, and a robust extracurricular program. Students attend and participate in the weekly Mass on Fridays and Holy Days, and 8th graders are confirmed at the Cathedral of St. Paul.
