History and Founding of the Parish
St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Parish was founded in 1994 as a mission of Holy Redeemer Parish in Kissimmee, under the pastoral care of the Servite Fathers (Order of the Servants of Mary), with Fr. Vidal Martinez as the founding pastor. The original campus at 2750 East Osceola Parkway featured a multi-purpose worship building and a temporary parish office structure, brought into being in 1998 through the generosity of parishioners and the Diocese of Orlando. The mission grew rapidly, reaching nearly 3,200 registered families, and on August 12, 2000 Bishop Norbert Dorsey formally established it as a parish. A capital campaign launched in December 2001 eventually led — after many incremental infrastructure steps — to the design and construction of the new church temple, dedicated on June 22, 2019.

Construction of the Church Temple (2017–2019)
In July 2017, with the blessing of Bishop John Noonan, the parish began designing the New Church Temple. Plunkett Raysich Architects, LLP facilitated a signature 'Hands-On Workshop' with the parish's Building Committee. The groundbreaking took place on November 25, 2017 (the Solemnity of Christ the King), actual construction began in February 2018, and on June 22, 2019 Bishop John Noonan (Diocese of Orlando) and Bishop Mark J. Spalding (Diocese of Nashville) celebrated the Dedication and Consecration of the church and altar. The 11,000–12,000 sq. ft. pre-engineered metal building (built by Henkelman Construction, Inc.) seats 730 worshippers with capacity to expand by 600 additional seats.

Architecture and Sacred Art
Plunkett Raysich Architects achieved an affordable yet dignified temple by combining modern pre-engineered metal building techniques (a STAR pre-engineered metal structure with EIFS exterior finish) with references to traditional Catholic architecture — most visibly a cross at the highest point of the church. The narthex and welcome center are generous for fellowship, while two Reconciliation Rooms, a working sacristy and a priest sacristy serve the sacramental and liturgical needs of the parish. A prominent Sanctuary is accompanied by an adjacent choir, and an audio-visual room supports the Music Ministry. A future Adoration Chapel, conceptually designed to harmonize with the larger worship space, will seat about 120.

Pastoral Succession (1994–Present)
From its founding under the Servite Fathers to today's diocesan pastoral team, St. Catherine of Siena has been served by a clear succession of pastors. Fr. Vidal Martinez, OSM led the founding mission (1994–2002); after his transfer, the Servites returned the parish to diocesan care and Bishop Norbert Dorsey appointed Fr. José Bautista on June 10, 2003. Fr. Bautista oversaw major expansion milestones (2009 multipurpose expansion, 2010 moveable walls, 2013 site work). Fr. José Muñoz led the parish through the temple's construction and 2019 dedication, with parish directory listings identifying him as pastor through 2022 and his reassignment announced June 1, 2025. On the same date, Bishop Noonan appointed Fr. Tomás Hurtado — a former associate pastor of St. Catherine of Siena (2005) — as the current pastor.

Faith Formation and Religious Education
Faith Formation at St. Catherine of Siena serves children from kindergarten through 12th grade and runs weekly sessions from 6:00 pm to 7:15 pm. Offerings include OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) for Children, Teens and Adults — both in English and Spanish — as well as Sacramental Preparation tracks for First Communion, Confirmation (teen and adult), Adult Catechesis in both English and Spanish, and a dedicated track for Special Needs Children. The parish is currently accepting Catechist and Catechist Aid applications for the 2025–2026 year; all catechists must complete Diocesan Safe Environment training and a fingerprint background check.

The parish maintains a vibrant Friday-evening Youth Group for teens and a Young Adults (18+) ministry featuring Bible studies, teachings, social activities, sports events, monthly feeding of the homeless and pro-life activities. Seniors in Action meets every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Siena Parish Center, offering prayer groups, Bible studies, social events, community service and fellowship activities tailored to older parishioners.

Stewardship — Time, Talent and Treasure
St. Catherine of Siena organizes parish life around a stewardship model of Time, Talent and Treasure. Parishioners are invited to tithe 10% of their income to the parish ministry, and many ministries — sacristans, hospitality ministers, catechists, choir, Adoration volunteers, Knights of Columbus — provide concrete ways to share one's gifts. Parish Identity, Relic of St. Catherine of Siena
St. Catherine of Siena (1347–1380) was an Italian Dominican tertiary, mystic, and Doctor of the Church whose spiritual writings (including the Dialogue of Divine Providence) and tireless advocacy for the Pope during the Western Schism made her one of the most influential female saints of the late Middle Ages. She was canonized in 1461 and declared a Doctor of the Church in 1970; her feast is celebrated on April 29. The parish hosts a relic of the saint under the patronage of her name — a rare privilege that the parish proudly notes as helping parishioners 'continue our close relationship with her and to practice more intimately our devotion'.
