History

St. Canice traces its origins to a Catholic society formed in Kilkenny township in 1858. Early members worshiped in private homes until building a small frame church in 1867. A larger brick church was erected in 1880 and served the growing rural congregation. In recent decades the parish has been clustered with neighboring Catholic communities under the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.
