History
St. Bridget was created in 1968 from part of Assumption Parish as the northeast Seattle neighborhoods expanded. The two parishes had already begun sharing ministry and education; the parish school (now Assumption-St. Bridget) had been founded in 1947 by the Dominican Sisters of Tacoma. In 1994–95 the school became jointly supported and was renamed Assumption-St. Bridget School. In 2024 the Archdiocese of Seattle's Partners in the Gospel initiative grouped St. Bridget with Assumption, Our Lady of the Lake, and St. Catherine of Siena into Parish Family 15, under one pastor, with the four parishes working toward eventual merger into a single canonical parish.

Our Patron Saint: St. Bridget of Kildare
According to the parish's own 'Our Patron Saint' page, St. Bridget was born in 453 and is considered, with St. Patrick, one of the patrons of Ireland. She founded a famous monastery at Kildare and was renowned for her generosity and compassion for the poor — legend even credits her with offering beer freely to visitors at her monastery. She died in 525, and her feast day is February 1. She is the patron saint of babies, midwives, children whose parents are not married, scholars, poets, travelers, and farmers.

Northeast Seattle Catholic Community (Parish Family 15)
Since 2024, under the Archdiocese of Seattle's Partners in the Gospel pastoral planning process, St. Bridget shares leadership and resources with three neighboring parishes: Assumption, Our Lady of the Lake, and St. Catherine of Siena. The four-parish 'Northeast Seattle Catholic Community' shares a common mission: to grow in faith, support one another, and serve their neighbors, ultimately merging into a single parish community. Faith Formation
Faith formation is described by the parish as the second 'cornerstone' of St. Bridget's community life. The parish offers the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) for adults exploring Catholicism, the Order of Christian Initiation for Children (OCIC) for unbaptized children, Vacation Bible Study (VBS) in the summer, and ongoing Adult Continuing Faith Formation for parishioners who want to keep growing.

Assumption-St. Bridget School
Assumption-St. Bridget School is a jointly supported parish school serving the families of both Assumption and St. Bridget parishes. The school traces its roots to 1947, when the Dominican Sisters of Tacoma opened Assumption Catholic School; the permanent building followed in 1949. In 1994 the school became jointly supported and was renamed Assumption-St. Bridget School; an accredited PreK program was added in 2014. In-parish tuition is available to registered parishioners who are practicing Catholics, support the parish financially, and are active in parish life. The school has been committed to the academic, social, emotional, and faith formation of its students for more than 75 years.

Outreach and Charity
St. Bridget parishioners serve their neighbors through the Assumption-St. Bridget Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, which operates a food pantry at the parish, organizes monthly food drives with the school, and donates food to the Georgetown food bank operated by St. Vincent de Paul of Seattle/King County. The conference also financially supports the St. Vincent de Paul group at Holy Spirit Parish in Kent. Members respond to as many as 10 calls for assistance each week for neighbors in the surrounding neighborhoods.
