St. Bridget Catholic Church is a Roman-Latin rite parish in the small community of Schriever in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, served by the Diocese of Houma–Thibodaux. The parish traces its origins to 1911 as a mission in the sugar-cane country of upper Bayou Terrebonne, and the present church building was dedicated in 1955. Today St. Bridget offers daily Mass, a perpetual Adoration Chapel, a full sacramental program, and active faith formation for children and adults. The parish sits at the corner of St. Bridge Rd. (Hwy 311) and Main St. (LA-24), and its cemetery holds a remarkable historical link to Louisiana's past — the reinterred remains of Henry Schuyler Thibodaux, the planter and politician after whom the city of Thibodaux is named, who originally named his plantation 'St. Brigitte' after his wife.

Parish Identity and History
St. Bridget Catholic Church in Schriever, Louisiana, is a parish of the Diocese of Houma–Thibodaux founded in 1911. The present church was dedicated in 1955. The parish sits on land first settled by Henry Schuyler Thibodaux, who named his sugar plantation 'St. Brigitte' after his wife Brigitte Bélanger and who later served as interim Governor of Louisiana in 1824. After his death in 1827, Thibodaux was eventually reinterred at St. Bridget's Cemetery, where his ashes rest today.

Eucharistic Revival 2022–2025
St. Bridget participates in the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops' National Eucharistic Revival (2022–2025). The parish frames the Revival's mission as 'to renew the Church by enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist' and invites parishioners to ask the Holy Spirit to fan the flames of revival in their community.

Faith Formation and Religious Education
Faith formation at St. Bridget covers the whole life of the parish. Children preparing for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist must complete two years of formation. Students in Catholic elementary schools register for 2nd-grade CCD with their parish after 1st-grade religion; CCD students attend classes for both 1st and 2nd grade before receiving the sacraments. The parish also runs ongoing adult formation, small groups, and a synod listening process.

Sacraments
St. Bridget prepares parishioners for Baptism, First Eucharist and Penance, and Matrimony. Couples must begin marriage preparations at least six months before their wedding date and complete the diocesan Marriage Preparation Program, which includes FOCCUS and a Pre-Cana Retreat.

Clergy and Staff
The parish is led by Very Rev. Simon Peter Engurait, the sixth Bishop of the Diocese of Houma–Thibodaux. Father Mitchel Semar serves as Sacramental Minister while continuing as diocesan Director of Vocations and Seminarians and Chaplain of E. D. White Catholic High School. Beginning July 2026, Father Matthew Prosperie was appointed Parochial Vicar of both St. Genevieve in Thibodaux and St. Bridget in Schriever.
