Parish History
Founded around 1901 in response to growing Catholic population in Marguerite due to coal industry demand, the parish began with Masses held in private homes before a church was built. The Continental Coke Company donated land for the church and school, and the community contributed labor and materials. The church was dedicated on September 14, 1908, by Archabbot Leander Schnerr of St. Vincent Archabbey. It was named St. Benedict in honor of the Benedictine fathers who would serve the parish.
Staff & Leadership
Current leadership includes Father Kenneth Zaccagnini (Administrator), Father Levi Mantica (Parochial Vicar), Deacons William Newhouse and Aurelia Sabol, and parish secretary Julie Teslevich. The parish also has coordinators for Pre-K–5th Faith Formation, Sacramental Preparation, and Adult Formation.

The parish offers a wide range of ministries including Rosary, Altar Society, Festival Service, Ministry to the Sick & Homebound, Meal Train, Road Clean Up, and Funeral Luncheon Committee. It also provides sacramental preparation, youth ministry, and adult formation programs.

The parish offers all sacraments including Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, and Holy Orders. It also provides formation programs for children (PK–5th Grade), youth, and adults, including OCIA, Women’s Bible Study, and ChristLife.
