Our Church History
St. Augustine Catholic Church was established as Stallostown Mission in 1843 and named St. Augustine Parish in 1836. The nave was built in 1848, twin Gothic towers added in 1874, and a new sanctuary in 1901. Side vestibules were built in 1947, and the last major interior renovation occurred 1957–1963. The steeples, 190 feet tall, were designed by master builder Joann Anton Goehr, a parishioner.
Sacraments
The seven sacraments are Baptism, First Communion, Reconciliation, Confirmation, Marriage, Anointing of the Sick, and Holy Orders. Receiving one of the seven sacraments is a life-changing moment where one truly experiences God’s salvation and Christ’s sacrifice.
