St. Augustine Catholic Church is a historic parish in Brighton, Colorado, serving the local community under the Archdiocese of Denver. Founded in 1887 when Father William J. History
Brighton was originally a missionary stop for Father William J. Howlett, who tended the towns northeast of Denver in the Platte valley. In 1887, Howlett built a small brick church in Brighton that he and parishioners named for St. Augustine, establishing one of the early Catholic parishes in the area.
