History
Founded in 1898 to serve the booming industrial town of Barberton, St. Augustine has run a parish school for nearly its entire existence and has maintained perpetual Eucharistic adoration continuously since November 1, 1962 — a devotion Bishop Edward Malesic called an 'extraordinary witness of our Catholic faith' when he marked its 60th anniversary in November 2022. The parish has also become a pillar of Barberton's ecumenical social services, helping found and sustain the weekly Friendship Meals soup kitchen and serving a Christmas Day dinner to roughly 130 people in recent years.

St. Augustine Catholic School (K-8)
For nearly a century the parish has operated a K-8 Catholic school. Today St. Augustine Catholic School is a Notre Dame ACE Academy offering rigorous academics integrated with daily prayer, weekly all-school Mass, sacrament preparation, service projects, retreats, and character formation. The school serves families from Barberton and across Summit County, with financial aid and EdChoice scholarships available so no family is turned away for need. A new dedicated Kindergarten Center is opening in Fall 2026.

Preschool & Child Care
St. Augustine Preschool & Child Care Center, located at 633 West Paige Avenue in Barberton, provides a safe, quality, loving, socially enriching experience for children ages 18 months through 5. The center is open Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM and offers morning preschool, all-day preschool with extended afternoon care, full-day toddler class, and a summer program for ages 18 months to 12.

Outreach & Charity
St. Augustine is one of the largest volunteer crews in the Coalition of Concerned Christians ecumenical coalition that runs the weekly Friendship Meals community soup kitchen every Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church of Barberton. The parish also operates a St. Vincent de Paul Society conference from the parish address providing utility payment, furniture, and clothing assistance, plus a laundry services ministry and an annual Christmas Day dinner open to anyone in the community.
