Welcome to St. Anthony of Padua

St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church serves the small Cajun community of Krotz Springs in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. Founded in 1958 and part of the Diocese of Lafayette, the parish is led by Father Michael DeBlanc and welcomes visitors and newcomers to its weekday and Sunday liturgies. The parish runs a robust religious education program and maintains a Catholic cemetery adjoining the church for its members.

Religious Education (CCD)

St. Anthony's runs a Sunday-evening catechism program for students in grades 1 through 11. Each class night begins with the 4:00 PM Mass, followed by instruction until 6:30 PM. Students are actively incorporated into parish life as lectors, ushers, altar servers, and members of the choir. Registration opens each summer and closes on August 15; forms are available on the parish website or in the church.

Sacraments

The parish prepares children and adults for the Sacraments of Initiation on the following schedule: Baptism from birth and up; First Penance and First Communion in the 2nd grade; and Confirmation in the 11th grade. Confirmation is celebrated jointly with neighboring Catholic parishes at Sacred Heart in Port Barre, with the Most Reverend Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel presiding. Adults who have not yet been confirmed are invited to register for RCIA classes through the parish office.

St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery

Adjoining the church is the parish's own Catholic cemetery, where parishioners are traditionally laid to rest. Rites of Committal follow Masses of Christian Burial celebrated by Father DeBlanc at the church.
