Since 2019 St. Anthony of Padua has been partnered with St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Hull as the Christ by the Sea Catholic Collaborative, sharing pastoral and administrative staff while remaining a distinct parish. Parish History
St. Anthony of Padua was founded August 10, 1866 as a mission of St. Paul Parish in Hingham, with Fr. John Roddan as the first priest. The original church was built on South Main Street beginning in 1875 and the mission was raised to parish status on August 17, 1886 — at which point it was given charge of mission churches in North Scituate (later St. Frances Xavier Cabrini) and Scituate Harbor (St. Mary of the Nativity, still in existence). The present church on the corner of Summer Street and South Main Street was built in 1964 during the pastorate of Fr. Joseph Brennan, and the Parish Hall was added in 1999.

The Saint Anthony Statue
Inside the church stands a statue of St. Anthony, the patron known for finding lost things, with a back-story that fits the devotion. A placard inside the church explains that the statue itself was lost on its journey to Cohasset from Portugal, later recovered, and then placed in the church. It is carved from a single piece of wood and brought from the Azores — a tangible link to the Portuguese immigrant community that shaped the parish in its early decades.

Christ by the Sea Collaborative
Since 2019 St. Anthony of Padua Parish has been paired with St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Hull under the Christ by the Sea Collaborative. The two parishes share a single pastoral and administrative staff — including Pastoral and Administrative offices, Collaborative Music Directors, and a unified Faith Formation team — while remaining distinct canonical parishes. The collaborative is part of the Archdiocese of Boston and is currently under the governance of Cardinal Seán Patrick O'Malley, OFM Cap. (the current homepage announcement anticipates the pastorate of Fr. Richard R. Clancy from June 24, 2026 under Archbishop Richard Henning).

Faith Formation & Sacramental Preparation
The collaborative runs a family-centered faith formation program for Grades K–8 with sessions offered Sunday mornings in Cohasset and Hull and Monday evenings in Cohasset. Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation (MEND) and First Eucharist (NOURISH) is a separate monthly family track typically entered in Grade 2, with three team options — Shining Stars (Tue in Cohasset), Spirit Squad (Thu in Hull), and Graceful Giants (Sun in Cohasset). Families with a first-grader enter through Family Faith Formation, which combines Liturgy of the Word for Children with monthly SEEK sessions.
