It is one of three parishes that make up the Pend Oreille County Catholic Parishes grouping, alongside St. Bernard of Clairvaux (Ione), Our Lady of Sorrows and St. Jude (Usk/Cusick), and St. Joseph (Metaline Falls). St. Anthony is the parish church for the town of Newport, gathering the faithful at 612 W. First Street on the Sunday 11:00 AM Mass and on weekday and First-Saturday Masses. Parish History
The Catholic community in Newport has kept sacramental records since 1904, and GCatholic places the parish's formal history at 1908. For more than a century, St. Anthony has anchored Catholic life in Pend Oreille County. Beginning in the 1920s, the diocesan priests stationed here took responsibility for the Kalispel missions at St. Jude (Usk) and Our Lady of Sorrows, and they continue to do so today. The parish itself was incorporated as a Washington nonprofit in 2007.
