St. Anne's Catholic Church is a bilingual (English/Spanish) parish in Lodi, California, in the Diocese of Stockton, serving more than 3,000 registered families with five weekend Masses, daily Masses, an Adoration Chapel, a K-8 Catholic school, and a mission church, Mater Ecclesiae, in nearby Thornton. The parish traces its roots to 1876 in Woodbridge, was formally established in Lodi in 1904 under Father Owen Lacy, and worships today in the striking 1963 sanctuary on West Walnut Street. The current pastor is Fr. Brandon Ware, assisted by parochial vicars and a team of deacons, religious, and lay ministry leaders across more than 40 parish ministries.

Our History
Catholic life in the Lodi area goes back to 1869, when Mass was first said in private homes. In 1876 Father O'Connor organized the Woodbridge mission under St. Mary's in Stockton. The first St. Anne's Church in Lodi was dedicated May 3, 1891; it was badly damaged in an 1898 winter storm. In 1904 the parish became independent under Father Owen Lacy, and a new rectory was built. A larger church followed in 1913, and the parish school opened in 1922. The present sanctuary was dedicated in 1963 by Bishop Hugh Donohoe under Monsignor Patrick Morris, with Italian marble and stained glass depicting salvation history.

Architecture & Sacred Art
The present sanctuary was designed in the early 1960s and is defined by its 80-foot belltower, imported Italian marble used in the communion rail, pulpit and sanctuary, and a stained-glass program that sweeps from Abraham and Moses through the life of Christ to the General Judgment. The parish also hosts a chapel remodeled in 2011 and dedicated February 7, 2012, and a separate Adoration Chapel on South Pleasant Avenue dedicated to Eucharistic devotion.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
Faith Formation at St. Anne's is organized around the parish's "Faith Formation Petal," offering religious education for children, OCIA/RCIA for adults seeking full communion, Moms and Men's ministries, the OCDS Lodi Group (Secular Order of Discalced Carmelites), rosary-making, Bible studies (Estudios Bíblicos), and ongoing theology classes. The Family Adoration Ministry ties Eucharistic devotion to family life on the first Monday of each month.

St. Anne's Catholic School
St. Anne's Catholic School opened September 9, 1922 and today serves Kindergarten through 8th grade from its campus at 200 S. Pleasant Avenue, Lodi. The school partners closely with the parish in faith formation and sacramental preparation.

Music & Liturgy
Music ministry is a visible part of parish life: the parish has called for new members to join the 10:30 AM Sunday Choir to help lead the community in song, and the sanctuary's stained glass, marble and belltower all support a strong liturgical atmosphere. Spanish-language liturgies, including a 12:30 PM Sunday Mass that frequently fills the 1,100-seat church, are a defining feature of parish life.

Mater Ecclesiae Mission, Thornton
Mater Ecclesiae Catholic Church in Thornton is a mission of St. Anne's, serving Catholics in the southern part of the parish area. Located at 26500 Sacramento Blvd., it offers Sunday Masses in Spanish at 9:30 AM and in English at 11:00 AM. Confessions are available on request. The mission is administered through the St. Anne's parish office.

Community, Outreach & Devotions
St. Anne's runs a robust devotional and outreach life. The Mexican Catholic Federation, founded at the parish in 1966, continues to represent Hispanic parishioners. The Knights of Columbus and Daughters of Isabella hold fundraisers and service projects (including the Daughters' annual Treasures Galore). Legion of Mary, Grupo de Oración, and a parish Prayer Group meet weekly. The parish also hosts parish-wide events like parish picnics, and supports bereavement, sick visitation, Dust Angels cleaning teams, AA meetings, and youth fundraisers.

Sacraments
Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, Anointing of the Sick, and Funerals are all celebrated at St. Anne's, with preparation programs attached to each. Baptisms are by appointment with required classes (Spanish on the 1st–3rd Saturdays, English on the 4th Saturday). Marriages require a six-month notice and preparation; ceremonies are typically scheduled Saturdays at 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM.
