History

Constructed in 1920 as a school for the Knowles School District, the building was donated to the Diocese of Monterey-Fresno in 1961 by John Alexander of the Raymond Granite Company. It was remodeled and renamed St. Anne’s Chapel, blessed on Easter Sunday, April 7, 1962, by Reverend Mario Buttini. Sunday Mass began on September 23, 1962, serving not only Raymond Granite Company employees but all Catholics in the area.
