History of the Parish
St. Ann's history is bound up with the growth of Catholic life on the Cajun prairie. Father August Viel was appointed the first pastor in 1914, and the original church was completed in 1918. By the 1950s, a larger modern church and rectory were built to serve the growing congregation, and the parish celebrated its centennial in 2014.

Holy Spirit Chapel (Vidrine Mission)
Holy Spirit Chapel at 5023 Vidrine Road in Ville Platte functions as St. Ann's rural mission chapel. It hosts a Sunday Mass and serves Catholic families in the Vidrine community. The chapel was briefly administered by Sacred Heart Parish in 1987 before being returned to St. Ann.
