History of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish
St. Andrew the Apostle Parish was established on May 11, 1951 in Norton, Ohio when Bishop Edward Hoban of the Diocese of Cleveland appointed Father Stephen Blasko as founding pastor. Father Blasko, given the privilege of naming the new parish, chose St. Andrew the Apostle in honor of his father and two brothers. Over the decades the parish grew into a stable faith community of roughly 403 registered families, serving southern Summit County. The parish celebrated its 75th anniversary on Mother's Day, May 12, 2025, with a Mass and reception presided over by Bishop Edward Malesic, joined by pastor emeritus Father James Maloney (who served 29 years before retiring in 2020) and the pastor's mother and twin brother.
