St. Andrew the Apostle was founded in 1946 with Rev. Matthew Herold as its first pastor. The Archdiocese of Indianapolis' 1972 directory listed the parish at 3803 Denwood Drive with co-pastors Rev. Edward Kirch and Rev. Thomas Williams. The parish later moved to its present address at 4052 E. 38th Street, where it continues to serve about 155 families today.
