About Us

As part of the Diocese of New Ulm’s Plan for Parishes, St. Andrew, along with St. James (Dawson) and St. Joseph (Montevideo), form the Holy Family Area Catholic Community. The process began in 2001 with joint pastoral council meetings that shaped goals in word, worship, service, and stewardship. The Area Pastoral Council, made up of representatives from each parish and pastoral leaders, guides the pastoral direction. In 2004, the area was officially named the Holy Family Area Catholic Community. In 2012, Father Paul Timmerman was assigned as pastor. In 2014, an Area Office was established at St. Joseph with administrative staff and a Faith Formation Lead Coordinator. In 2017, Father Paul Timmerman became pastor of St. James. In 2018, St. James joined another area but remained connected to the Holy Family Area for Faith Formation. In 2020, St. James rejoined the Holy Family Area. Each parish maintains its identity while benefiting from shared resources and ministries.
