Why belong here

St. Andrew offers the rhythm of a small, traditional rural Catholic parish: a single Sunday Mass at 8:00 AM, a quiet hour of Eucharistic Adoration on Thursdays, and Confessions offered thirty minutes before Mass — simple patterns that allow parishioners to know one another and to be known. The parish shares faith formation, school options, and pastoral staff with the wider 'Our Catholic Family of Parishes' cluster, so families have access to CCD, Confirmation preparation, the regional Catholic schools, and a wider circle of ministries without losing the intimacy of one local church. It is a welcoming community for anyone seeking a faithful, rooted Catholic life in the Bloomfield and Knox County area.

History of St. Andrew

St. Andrew was established as one of the early Catholic parishes serving the Bloomfield area. In the early 1900s, Rev. John McNamara was assigned to St. Andrew's in Bloomfield and also oversaw the mission church at Osmond, which would be organized as a separate parish in 1904. Father McNamara supervised construction of a parish rectory in that period. Father Bernard Westermann served St. Andrew's in the mid-twentieth century before his 1945 transfer to Crofton, where he directed the building and 1953 dedication of the new St. Rose of Lima Church.

  • Rev. Bernard Westermann transferred from St. Andrew's to Crofton on June 23, 1945
  • Father Broudou became first clustered pastor in 2007, residing at St. Rose

Joining the Our Catholic Family Cluster (2007)

In 2007, responding to a shortage of priests across the Archdiocese of Omaha, Archbishop Elden Curtiss reorganized rural parishes into clusters that would share pastors and services. St. Andrew Parish in Bloomfield was joined with St. Rose of Lima in Crofton under Father Broudou, who continued to reside at St. Rose. Today, the cluster has expanded into the wider 'Our Catholic Family of Parishes' network, sharing administrative staff, finance, facilities, religious education, and evangelization across Knox County parishes.
