About Our Parish
St. Aloysius Church was founded in 1928 by Bishop James Aloysius Griffin to serve immigrant families and the expanding city of Springfield northward. Under the patronage of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, our parish takes special pride in serving the educational formation of our youth, offering a robust pre-school through 8th grade Catholic School program. We strive to be a welcoming faith community, offering opportunities for faith formation for all of our members, beginning with the Sacred Liturgy and continuing with specific opportunities for on-going adult faith formation, inquiry and initiation in the Catholic faith through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, small faith communities, teen and young adult programs, and sacramental preparation and religious education for our public and home-school children. Our members and alumni are found throughout Springfield and the world, serving the needs of our neighbors and community. This outreach flows from the Great Commission of our Lord to “teach all nations” and proclaim the universal call to holiness (Mt. 28: 19).
