The parish actively serves the broader Shepherdsville community through outreach like the Fellowship of Concern, the Bounty of Hope Christmas dinner, and homebound ministry. History of St. Aloysius Parish
St. Aloysius was established in 1911 in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, to serve Catholics in a region that was, in its early decades, openly hostile to the faith. Before the parish was formally founded, Mass was celebrated in a private home, a skating rink, and a judge's chambers in the county courthouse. The first church was built in 1912, and the current sanctuary was dedicated in 1950; a 2005 renovation uncovered the original 1950 features. The parish was the center of the Bullitt County missions after fire destroyed St. Eugene at Bardstown Junction, and the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville led its early religious-education classes and ran the parish school.
