Clergy & Staff

History & Anniversaries
Catholic life on the Point Arena coast goes back to about 1895, when Italian immigrant families built the first church under the patronage of Saint Aloysius. That structure was later rebuilt and rededicated on April 27, 1950 — the 75th anniversary the parish marks in 2025. To the north, the Gualala mission grew out of outdoor and community-center Masses into a permanent church, Mary Star of the Sea, completed and consecrated in 1995. Both churches today form one parish under one priest.

Baptism and Marriage are coordinated through the parish office; couples are asked to give at least six months' notice before a wedding. The parish also celebrates First Holy Communion — the 2025 First Holy Communion Mass was scheduled for June 21 at 4:00 PM at St. Aloysius.
