History
St. Aloysius was established in 1910 to serve the German-Catholic farming families of Argyle. In the early 20th century, pastor Fr. Joseph Clooney (1919–1925) oversaw an unusual construction project: the original church building was cut in two, the sacristy pulled back, and the halves were moved with horses, a track, and a pulley system so a 'cross addition' could be built between them — giving St. Aloysius its present cruciform shape and widening it by six feet on each side. Today the parish is twinned with St. Boniface Chapel, a mission community in Koeltztown whose very name comes from Miss Eremline Koeltze, a 19th-century Protestant benefactress who donated land and building funds to Archbishop Peter Kenrick.
- Founded 1910
- Patron: St. Aloysius Gonzaga (feast day June 21)
- Cruciform church created by physically moving the building under Fr. Joseph Clooney (1919–1925)
- Currently twinned with St. Boniface Chapel in Koeltztown
