St. Albert the Great is a welcoming Catholic community called by God to live out the message of Christ in love and service to all people. The parish's mission is to know, love, and serve God through prayer, service, living the Gospel, and celebrating the Eucharist. Parish History
The parish was founded in 1948 near the University of Nevada, Reno at North Virginia Street and Artemesia Way. By 1965, the growing community had moved to its present Wyoming Avenue site, where parishioners helped build the original gym, hosting the first Mass there on September 15, 1965. The current church building was completed in 1985. The parish celebrated its 75th anniversary in September 2023 with Bishop Mueggenborg presiding.

St. Albert the Great Catholic School
A K-8 Catholic school shares the parish campus at 1250 Wyoming Avenue. The school office is open Monday through Friday. Dr. Susan Kehoe serves as Principal. The school is one of the parish's listed core values, partnering with families in the academic and faith formation of their children.

Child Development Center (CDC)
Established in 1997, the Child Development Center serves infants, toddlers, two-year-olds, and preschoolers in a warm, home-like environment. The program emphasizes pre-math, science, art, music, language, creative expression, dramatic play, and motor-skill development. Staff focus on socialization, self-confidence, and a positive self-image.

Religious Education & Family Formation
Faith formation at St. Albert the Great is family-based. The Family Formation program is the formal catechetical program for public-school students in Kindergarten through Grade 5, and for students preparing for First Communion in Grades 6–8. The diocese requires two years of preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Parents serve as the primary catechists of their children, supported by the parish.

OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults)
OCIA, formerly called RCIA, is the communal process through which adults become full members of the Roman Catholic Church through the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. The process begins in September and runs through the Easter Vigil, with classes meeting Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Gathering Room of the Rectory, with a summer break.

The Hispanic Ministry at St. Albert's is a dedicated group committed to supporting the parish's Spanish-speaking community, assisting Father Honesto (and the current pastor) and the wider parish. Core members serve as Parish Council representatives, ushers, the Virgin of Guadalupe Committee, Quinceañera coordinators, and music ministry.

Sacraments
St. Albert the Great prepares parishioners for and celebrates all the major sacraments of the Church. Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist follows the diocesan two-year format, and OCIA walks unbaptized adults and already-baptized Christians into full communion with the Catholic Church.
