In 2023, the parish celebrated the consecration of a brand-new church after a seven-year, $18 million "Building with JOY" campaign, while still maintaining perpetual Eucharistic adoration and strong outreach ministries.

History of St. Agnes
From a 1952 island mission Mass in a mansion to a brand-new consecrated church in 2023, St. Agnes reflects the growth and generosity of Key Biscayne's Catholic community.
- Founded in 1952 with three dozen families
- First Masses in the Matheson mansion on Mashta Point, renovated by the Mackle family
- Mackle brothers donated land; church named for their mother's patron saint
- First Mass in the present church on Easter 1954
- Cuban refugee response in 1959-1960 led to a school, council, and outreach ministries
- Hurricane Andrew response in 1992 and addition of a Blessed Sacrament Chapel
- New church consecrated September 15, 2023 by Archbishop Thomas Wenski

The New Church
What began as a plan to beautify the campus became a seven-year, $18 million project to build a new church that meets modern building codes and elevates the parish's presence on the island.
