Why belong here

The Shrine offers a slower, more contemplative alternative to a typical parish, with Friday Mass at 11 a.m., Reconciliation from 10–11 a.m. each Friday, and Eucharistic Adoration Tuesday through Thursday from 12–1 p.m. Pilgrims come to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at noon, walk the outdoor Stations of the Cross, leave intentions in the prayer box, light candles, or simply sit in the gardens. The community embraces both the spiritual and corporal works of mercy through food outreach, visits to nursing homes and hospitals, Holy Hospitality lunch, and a vibrant gift shoppe whose proceeds support the ministry. A plenary indulgence is available to those who make a pilgrimage on Divine Mercy Sunday, on the feasts of Our Lady of Sorrows (September 15) or St. Faustina Kowalska (October 5), or on any day of a group pilgrimage.

History of the Shrine of Jesus The Divine Mercy

The Shrine's origin story is rooted in the personal witness of foundress Catherine M. Lanni. In 1986, after the birth of her youngest daughter, Catherine was on her deathbed when she says she was miraculously healed through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to whom she promised to do something 'good' for God. In 1992, she reports that Jesus Christ appeared to her and asked for 'a total healing of every strata of the Church.' On Easter Sunday, April 21, 2003, Cardinal Adam Maida erected The Servants of Jesus of The Divine Mercy as a Private Association of the Christian Faithful. The Center opened in 2006, and in 2013 the ministry moved to its present 13-acre campus at 33826 Beaconsfield Street in Clinton Township, where it developed walking paths, outdoor Stations of the Cross, an Our Lady of Sorrows Rosary garden, and prayer areas dedicated to multiple patron saints. On March 26, 2021 Archbishop Allen H. Vigneron announced the Center's designation as an Archdiocesan Shrine, and on Divine Mercy Sunday, April 11, 2021, it was formally dedicated under the name the Shrine of Jesus The Divine Mercy.

Donors may give one-time gifts or become Sustaining Donors with weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual recurring donations. Volunteers are also welcomed to serve at the Shrine, and brick pavers can be ordered as a permanent form of support on the grounds.
