The Sawtooth Valley Chapel is a rustic, non-denominational meditation chapel built by the community of Stanley in 1977. It is open to worshippers of all faiths as well as to anyone seeking a place for private meditation, devotions, respite, and solitude. The nonprofit Sawtooth Valley Chapel, Inc. was organized to maintain the building exclusively for religious purposes. Its architecture was intentionally designed to capture the breathtaking beauty of the Sawtooth Mountains.

The chapel is a classic Idaho mountain sanctuary: exposed overhead log beams, warm wooden floors, and pews paired with seven stained glass windows that depict mountain and valley scenes. The design intentionally draws the eye toward the Sawtooth peaks, creating a sense of openness while maintaining an intimate, contemplative interior suitable for both small weddings and quiet private prayer.

Weddings & Celebrations

The Sawtooth Valley Chapel is available for weddings, vow renewals, celebration of life services, worship services, and other religious gatherings. The wedding season runs from May 15 through October 31, and no off-season weddings are accepted. All events must end by 8:00 pm. The chapel can provide referrals for lodging, photography, reception locations, transportation, entertainment, catering, spa treatments, and recreation for wedding guests. Receptions are not held on site, and the grounds are not available for receptions.

Rental Rates & Memorial Services

Rates are published on the chapel's website. Memorial services are offered at a reduced rate for Stanley community residents and a higher rate for non-residents; donations to the Chapel building fund are welcomed in memory of loved ones. Wedding rental rates apply May 15 – October 15, with no weddings permitted from October 16 – May 14. Payments may be made by check mailed to the Jerome bookkeeping office, or by PayPal with an additional 3% processing fee.

Visiting, Hours & Practicalities

During daylight hours, the chapel is open to the public for private meditations, devotions, respite, and solitude. It is generally winterized in mid-October and de-winterized by mid-May, so water may not be available in winter. Heat remains available, but the parking lot is not plowed, which may limit winter access — plowing can sometimes be arranged for an additional fee.
