Parish History
The San Pedro story begins in 1957, when Archbishop Joseph P. Hurley purchased land in what was then open range country. A mission from Epiphany Parish in Venice was established in 1963, and the first Mass was celebrated on January 19, 1964, in a donated former restaurant. Bishop Hurley named the mission 'San Pedro' in December 1965; the new church was dedicated on January 1, 1967. The mission became a parish on June 14, 1970, under Bishop Charles B. McLaughlin, with Fr. Joseph P. Duggan as the first pastor. Facilities expanded over the decades with the Activities Center (1976), rectory (1981), present church (1991), Parish Life Center addition (1995), and Youth Center (2010).

Faith Formation
San Pedro's Faith Formation office offers religious education for children from Kindergarten through 10th grade, with classes meeting on Sundays from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. The program emphasizes a 'seamless blend between the Domestic Church and the Community Church,' supporting what families teach at home with parish-based liturgical and catechetical life. A separate track is offered for children beyond 2nd grade who need Reconciliation and Eucharist preparation, and a Basic Faith class welcomes older children with no prior religious education. Adult Faith Formation opportunities and free unlimited access to FORMED are also promoted.

Sacraments
San Pedro prepares parishioners for the Sacraments of Initiation, Healing, and Vocation through its Faith Formation office. Baptism preparation is offered on the third Saturday of each month for parents and godparents; OCIA welcomes unbaptized adults and older children into full initiation through Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. Parish Ministries and Groups
San Pedro has a robust network of lay ministries, reflecting the parish's emphasis on fellowship and service. Outreach through the St. Vincent de Paul Conference brings food and financial help to the needy, including during disasters. The Music Ministry welcomes singers and instrumentalists to assist the parish choir. Prayer Groups and Devotions
In keeping with the Marian charism of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary, San Pedro places strong emphasis on prayer. The Medjugorje Prayer Group gathers every Wednesday morning after the 8:30 a.m. Mass to recite the 15 mysteries of the rosary and to make consecrations to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The parish also observes an annual Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and 24-hour Eucharistic Adoration around the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart.

The Oblates of the Virgin Mary (OMV)
Since August 2022, San Pedro has been entrusted to the Oblates of the Virgin Mary (OMV), a religious congregation of priests and brothers founded by the Venerable Bruno Lanteri. The Oblates look to Mary with devotion as a sign of hope to all believers and, with Jesus as their model, help people make a new start in their lives through God's mercy and love. They teach people to pray with the Word of God and lead souls to a deeper experience of Christ's healing love in the Sacraments, helping people hear and respond to the movement of the Holy Spirit. Fr. Thomas Carzon, OMV, was installed as San Pedro's first Oblate pastor on September 18, 2022.
