Patron: San Pedro de Jesús Maldonado

The mission takes its name from San Pedro de Jesús Maldonado Lucero, a Mexican-born Franciscan missionary who traveled to Japan in the late 16th century and was martyred in Nagasaki in 1597. He was beatified in 1879 and canonized by Pope John Paul II on June 8, 2002, together with the other Japanese martyrs. The mission in Wildwood bears his name in honor of his witness of faith and evangelization.

Lazarus Free Medical Clinic

Housed on the grounds of San Pedro de Jesús Maldonado Mission, the Lazarus Free Medical Clinic is an outreach of Catholic Charities of Central Florida. The clinic provides free medical care to uninsured clients who live at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, and it welcomes volunteer physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, EKG technicians, endocrinologists, orthopedic surgeons, certified health educators, and other medical professionals.
