Getting to San Juan Nepomuceno
The mission sits along County Road B41A in the village of San Juan (San Jose). Travelers from I-25 take Exit 319 (San Jose), then follow Frontage Rd 2116 west to B41A and continue past the Pecos River Cliff House to the corner of B41A and Calle Loma. Many GPS systems label the village as San Jose rather than San Juan.

The Patron Saint: San Juan Nepomuceno (St. John of Nepomuk)
The mission is dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk (c. 1345–1393), a Bohemian priest who served as vicar general of the Archdiocese of Prague. According to tradition, he was martyred after refusing to divulge the secrets of the confessional to King Wenceslaus IV, who had him thrown from the Charles Bridge into the Vltava River. He is venerated as the patron saint of confessors, of Bohemia, and of protection from floods, and his feast day is celebrated on May 16. The halo of five stars traditionally shown around his head is said to spell the Latin word 'Tacui' — 'I was silent.'
