Parish History
Though the parish does not publish a detailed founding narrative online, the broader historical record shows Saint Robert Bellarmine has served Catholics in Jones for well over half a century. According to public archdiocesan records, Father David F. Monahan was pastor from 1966 to 1978 (with concurrent oversight of Saint Theresa Church, Luther), and he went on to become the founding editor of The Sooner Catholic and the first biographer of Oklahoma's martyr Blessed Stanley Rother. In the early 1990s the future Bishop Anthony Taylor served here as a parochial vicar (1990–1993) before founding St. Monica Parish in Edmond. Most recently the parish has been administered under Archdiocese of Oklahoma City's 'Wave 2' parish groupings.
