Parish History

St. Pius X Parish was founded in 1958 by Father Andrew H. Hohman, a priest of the Diocese of Columbus who had previously served at Calmoutier and Crooksville. Father Hohman shepherded the new Reynoldsburg mission and was remembered by his fellow priests as 'the founder of their parish' until his death in December 1963 at age 52. The present church building was completed in 1960, and the parish grew steadily alongside the eastside suburbs of Columbus during the post-war expansion era. The parish was established during the tenure of Bishop Clarence Issenmann, who erected seven new churches across the diocese to meet the needs of the booming central Ohio population.
