Founded in 1955 as an outgrowth of the historic Holy Guardian Angels community in Sandfordtown, the parish today serves a busy suburban congregation at 348 Dudley Road with a parish school, free-standing church (built 1988), gymnasium, and Parish Activity Center. Parish History
The parish traces its origins to 1856 in Sandfordtown, Kentucky, where a log house served as the first Catholic school. Visiting priests said Mass in parishioners' homes and the school, and in 1863 a simple combined church-and-school was completed on the same tract. A resident pastor arrived in 1869 with a new rectory; in 1880 Bishop Augustus Toebbe dedicated a larger church; the Benedictine Sisters came to staff the school in 1882 (with a convent built that same year); the school was renovated in 1886 and rebuilt in 1909, and the church was repaired in 1911.

Modern Parish (1955 – present)
In 1954, 23 acres of farmland on Dudley Road were donated for future parish expansion. Bishop William T. Mulloy formally established the new parish in 1955, carved from Holy Guardian Angels and renamed St. Pius X to honor the newly canonized pope. Fr. Hugh Milligan was named founding pastor; groundbreaking for the school-and-church complex was May 29, 1955; the first Mass in the new church was June 1, 1958; and the school opened September 3, 1958 with 355 students.

St. Pius X Catholic School (K–8)
St. Pius X Catholic School is a parish elementary school on the same Dudley Road campus, serving grades K–8. The school's mission is rooted in the values, service, and teachings of Jesus Christ, and it is recognized as a two-time Blue Ribbon school. The school day runs 7:10 AM – 1:55 PM with bus transportation provided by the Kenton County School District.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
The Office of Religious Education, under Director of Religious Education Joanna Tallarigo, coordinates sacramental preparation, ongoing faith formation for children and adults, and the parish lending library. Children in public schools attend the Parish School of Religion (PSR) on Monday evenings 6:30 – 7:45 PM, September through May.

Walking with Purpose & Welcome (CRHP 2.0)
Two adult formation programs offered to parishioners 18 and older. Walking with Purpose is a women's Catholic Scripture-based program that meets weekly for 22 weeks (morning and evening groups). Welcome (CRHP 2.0) is a popular renewal process for both men and women that emphasizes scripture, prayer, personal reflection, and relationships.

Youth Ministry & Athletics
Youth Ministry at St. Pius X is called ACTS and brings youth together to share, learn, and use their gifts in service of God and others through faith formation, service projects, sporting activities, study of Scripture, and social gatherings. Youth Group meets on the 1st and 3rd Sundays after the 9:30 AM Mass and is open to 6th graders and up. The parish also runs an extensive youth athletic association.

Sacraments & Devotions
St. Pius X celebrates all seven sacraments through the parish and its school. Sacramental preparation for First Communion and Confirmation takes place through the school or the Parish School of Religion; adult Confirmation and entrance into the Church is through OCIA. Marriages require at least one party to be registered at St. Pius X.

Our Campus & Facilities
The 23-acre Dudley Road campus sits about half a mile east of Turkeyfoot Road, very close to St. Elizabeth Hospital. It includes the church, the school, the rectory, Milligan Hall, the Parish Activity Center (PAC), the gymnasium, and baseball fields. Parishioners enter from Dudley Road via a one-way East Entrance (school, church, and the main parking lots) or a two-way West Entrance (rectory, church, smaller lot, and baseball fields), exiting via a one-way two-lane drive to a traffic light at Dudley Road.

Becoming a Volunteer
Anyone wishing to volunteer with the parish — especially in any role involving children or minors — must complete the Diocese of Covington's Safe Environment (VIRTUS) process before serving. This includes registering with VIRTUS, completing a Volunteer Application with the parish coordinator, undergoing a background check, and attending a VIRTUS training session.
