Parish History
St. Peter Parish traces its roots to 12 families who celebrated Mass at the Modern Woodmen of the World Hall in Monument in the early 1900s. A church was begun in 1911 and still stands on the campus. After growing to about 90 families by the mid-1970s, the community broke ground for a new church in 1977 under Father William Vollmer and officially became a parish in 1984 with Father Dean Kumba as first resident pastor. The current church was dedicated on the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul in 1994, with Father (now Monsignor) Robert Jaeger as pastor. A 2003 education center launched the parish school, which graduated its first eighth-grade class in 2014. A $5 million expansion added a parish hall/gymnasium, classrooms, a church expansion, and offices, and a new rectory was built in 2014.

About Fr. Gregory Golyzniak, Pastor
Fr. Gregory was born and raised in Muszyna, Poland, the youngest of four children. He attended the world's largest Catholic seminary in Tarnow, Poland, and was ordained in 1998. He came to the United States and was assigned to the Diocese of Syracuse, New York (2002–2008), then transferred to the Diocese of Colorado Springs, first serving as pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Southgate. He was named pastor of St. Peter on August 19, 2013. Fr. Gregory holds a PhD in Sacred Architecture with an emphasis on Gothic architecture of the 11th–17th centuries.
Faith Formation and Religious Education
St. Peter offers a full continuum of faith formation from preschool through adulthood, including OCIA and OCIC for those entering the Church. Classes meet in the Parish Ministry Center with a parent drop-off/pick-up safety protocol at the main entrance.

Parish School
The parish school shares the on-site education center (completed January 2003), with preschool and kindergarten opening in 2004. The school added one grade per year and graduated its first eighth-grade class in 2014. The 2014 expansion added four classrooms for the school and religious education programs alongside a parish hall/gymnasium with commercial kitchen.

St. Peter's liturgy team trains and schedules ministers for Mass and prepares the worship space for each liturgical season, treating liturgy as 'the work of the people' — a full, conscious, and active participation of all ages.
