History of the Parish
The parish has long served as a mission-style hub for the Panhandle. Father Robert Wood led the community before 2005 and was followed by Father Bill Pruett, who served roughly 2005–2010. Father Pruett described the Panhandle as 'mission territory' in a 2010 profile in The Oklahoman, noting the need to build Catholic community from the ground up across a vast rural area. He and parish leaders organized a rally in support of the local Hispanic community, a senior citizens group, and a society to aid the indigent. He was reassigned to St. James in Oklahoma City in June 2010 as part of Archbishop Eusebius Beltran's clergy reassignments.
