St. Peter’s Catholic Church is a small, historic parish in Cheraw, South Carolina, part of the Myrtle Beach Deanery of the Diocese of Charleston. Founded and built in 1842 by Irish immigrant master builder Conlaw Peter Lynch, it is listed in the National Register as part of the Cheraw Historic District. Today the parish continues to serve the Pee Dee community with weekend and weekday Masses, reconciliation, and a close-knit congregation.

History

St. Peter’s was founded and built in 1842 by Irish immigrant master builder Conlaw Peter Lynch. The church was damaged in the Civil War, sat vacant for decades, and was restored in 1909 by Father Charles DuBois Wood. It is part of the Cheraw Historic District.
