History of St. Patrick Parish
The Catholic presence in London dates to 1849, when Irish laborers working on the Columbus and Xenia Railroad settled in Madison County. The first Mass was offered that year at McGuire's boardinghouse at Second and Walnut streets. A frame church dedicated to St. John the Evangelist was built in 1855-1856 on the corner of Oak and Center streets under the direction of Father Howard, and the present St. Patrick Church was completed in 1866 to serve the growing Irish-Catholic population. Archbishop Purcell acquired the four-acre St. Patrick Cemetery on the London-Circleville Road on April 17, 1865. In 1874, the Ursuline Sisters of Brown County opened St. Patrick School, which they administered until 1960. The parish celebrated its centennial in 1966 and continues today as a vibrant worship community with a parish school and active outreach ministries.

St. Patrick Catholic School
Founded in 1874 by the Ursuline Sisters of Brown County, St. Patrick Catholic School provides faith-based education from preschool through 8th grade and has served the London community for more than 150 years. The school is fully accredited by the Ohio Catholic School Accrediting Association (OCSAA), and faculty are state-certified. Small class sizes, daily religious education, morning prayer, and a weekly Wednesday school Mass are central to school life. Curriculum is enriched with high-school-level Algebra, year-round art, music, and physical education, and a band program for grades 5-8. Every classroom uses state-of-the-art technology including interactive televisions, iPads for grades K-1, and Chromebooks for grades 2-8.

Religious Education & Sacraments
Faith formation at St. Patrick covers children and adults. Youth Catechesis is coordinated by Melissa Holloway, while the OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) process is led by Deacon Dan Hann. Sacramental preparation for Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, and Marriage is available through the parish office. The parish also provides ongoing religious education and sacramental preparation in conjunction with the parish school.

Visiting St. Patrick Church
St. Patrick is located in downtown London at 61 South Union Street. Sunday Mass runs approximately 60 minutes and follows the traditional Catholic Liturgy in English with some Latin, Greek, and Hebrew. The parish welcomes families with children, including those who may need to step out with little ones, and offers a live audio feed into the parish lounge. Visitors can register their intent to attend via a form on the parish website so they can be personally welcomed.

St. Patrick Cemetery
St. Patrick Cemetery, located on the London-Circleville Road just outside the city limits, was acquired by Archbishop Purcell on April 17, 1865, as a four-acre tract. It remains an active Catholic cemetery associated with the parish.
