Why belong here
Saint Patrick is a small, bilingual borderland parish where Spanish-speaking and English-speaking families of the Canutillo valley gather for daily and Sunday Mass, the sacraments, and a strong sense of community. The parish offers weekday Mass twice a week, a Saturday evening Spanish vigil with confessions beforehand, and a single English Sunday Mass — convenient for working families on both sides of the river. Its traditional annual Kermés / bazaar, the warm welcome extended to visitors, and its pairing with Immaculate Heart of Mary in Westway under one pastoral team make it a genuine community-of-faith home rather than a large institutional parish.

Parish Identity & History
Saint Patrick Catholic Church was established in 1938 in the small unincorporated community of Canutillo, Texas, west of El Paso along the Rio Grande. It is one of the rural valley parishes organized by the Diocese of El Paso to bring regular Mass and the sacraments to outlying border communities. The patron is Saint Patrick of Ireland, whose feast day is celebrated on March 17. Although the local population is overwhelmingly Hispanic, the parish has long maintained a bilingual character with one English Mass on the weekend schedule.

The Diocese of El Paso assigns a single pastoral team to Saint Patrick–Canutillo and the neighboring Immaculate Heart of Mary parish in Westway. Rev. Apolinar Samboni serves as pastor of both communities; Rev. James Kofski is parochial vicar; and Deacon Felipe Barraza assists with liturgical and pastoral ministry. The shared arrangement is reflected in the single phone number and the listing of the same clergy on both parish pages of the diocesan website.

Parish Life & Kermés
Like many small Hispanic parishes along the border, Saint Patrick maintains a strong community life centered on the Mass, the sacraments, and an annual parish bazaar (kermés). The parish website dedicates a section to the 'Bazaar/Kermés 2018' event, which is a major fundraiser and gathering for the community. The parish shares its ministry with Immaculate Heart of Mary in Westway, which means many parish activities — feast-day celebrations, sacramental preparation, and social events — involve both valley communities.
