History of St. Patrick Catholic Church
St. Patrick was born in the 1980s from the consolidation of four historic Catholic congregations that had served the mining and industrial communities of northern Jefferson County since the late 19th century: St. Catherine of Siena in Pratt City (1881), St. Michael in Brookside (1892), Immaculate Heart of Mary in Hillview (1938), and St. Raphael in Graysville (1963). The vision for the merger came together in the mid-1970s under Father Patrick J. Sullivan, then pastor of St. Catherine of Siena. After more than a decade of planning, the new parish broke ground on its current home on May 10, 1987, and Bishop Joseph V. Sullivan (Diocese of Birmingham) dedicated the new church on January 24, 1988. The parish continues to honor those four founding communities, recognizing them as 'the foundation upon which we stand firm today.'

Becoming an Altar Server
Children in 3rd grade and up who have received First Holy Communion are invited to consider serving at the altar at St. Patrick. Servers assist the priest during Mass and are expected to perform their duties with attention, dignity, and reverence, and to attend scheduled practices and meetings.

Faith Formation and Religious Education

Sacraments and Pastoral Care
