St. Mary of the Assumption is a historic Catholic parish in Avilla, Indiana, founded in 1853 to serve the Catholic families of Noble County and surrounding areas. Known as the "Mother Church" of northeast Indiana, the parish is home to the only Catholic elementary school in Noble, LaGrange and Steuben counties. Under the leadership of Pastor Rev. David Voors, the parish offers daily Mass, Eucharistic adoration, confession, religious education, and a close-knit faith community rooted in generations of Catholic tradition.

History and Heritage

From a small frame chapel built by Father Edward Faller for eight families to a regional landmark church built by Father Dominick Duehmig, St. Mary's has been a spiritual anchor in Noble County for more than 170 years.

Worship and Prayer

The parish offers Mass daily, with confession scheduled multiple times each week and Eucharistic adoration on Wednesdays and on the first Thursday of each month. The church is open for daily prayer from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

School and Faith Formation

St. Mary of the Assumption School provides Catholic education from preschool through eighth grade and is the only Catholic elementary school in Noble, LaGrange and Steuben counties. Parish religious education and RCIA prepare children and adults for the sacraments.
