St. Luke Catholic Church is a bilingual (English and Spanish) Roman Catholic parish in Northwest El Paso, Texas, established on July 1, 1992 by Bishop Raymundo Peña. The parish is part of the Diocese of El Paso and serves the growing communities on the west side of El Paso. Originally meeting in Polk Elementary School and later Hornedo Middle School, the parish moved to its permanent campus at 930 E. Redd Road in June 1994 and now celebrates Mass in a church consecrated by Bishop Armando Ochoa in March 2002. Today it is a multi-generational parish offering weekly devotions (Centering Prayer, Rosary for the Unborn, Adoration), faith formation for children and adults, OCIA (formerly RCIA), marriage preparation, and numerous lay ministries.

St. Luke Catholic Church is a bilingual Roman Catholic parish in the Diocese of El Paso, founded in 1992 to serve Northwest El Paso. Now in its fourth decade, the parish offers daily and weekend Mass in English and Spanish, weekly Centering Prayer, the Rosary for the Unborn, a robust Religious Formation program, OCIA for adults, and dozens of lay ministries. The pastor, Fr. Edward Carpenter, Jr., is supported by four permanent deacons and a parish staff. Visitors and newcomers are warmly welcomed and encouraged to register.

Parish History
Bishop Raymundo Peña established St. Luke on July 1, 1992, naming Msgr. John Peters as founding pastor. The parish first worshipped at Polk Elementary School, then Hornedo Middle School, before moving to its permanent 930 E. Redd Road site in June 1994. The Parish Hall was used for Mass and formation while offices were completed in January 1998. The first Mass in the new church was celebrated on the First Sunday of Advent 2001, and Bishop Armando Ochoa consecrated the church in March 2002. The Catechetical Center and Rosary Courtyard followed in 2008, with the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, meeting room, Gift Shop, and a new Baptismal Font added in recent years.

Mass and Sacraments Schedule
St. Luke offers daily Mass Monday through Friday at 7:30 am, a Saturday Vigil Mass at 4:30 pm, and four Sunday Masses including one in Spanish. Confessions are heard every Saturday afternoon and by appointment. Holy Days include an anticipated Spanish vigil Mass and English Masses in the morning and evening.

Religious Formation for Children
The parish's Religious Formation program supports children from 1st grade through high school. Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is a three-year process beginning in 1st grade, with classes available in English and Spanish. Confirmation is a two-year program beginning in 9th grade, including Sunday Mass attendance and a required retreat and community service each year. The OCIA adapted for children serves unbaptized children over age 7 in a three-year program that culminates in Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation.

Religious Formation for Adults
Adult faith formation at St. Luke includes OCIA (formerly RCIA) for those entering the Church or completing their initiation, Adult Confirmation classes, Baptism preparation for parents and godparents, and Marriage Preparation. Classes are offered in English and Spanish, with the next OCIA cycle beginning in February 2027 and the next Adult Confirmation cycle beginning July 26, 2026.

Ministries of Worship
St. Luke's liturgical ministries support every Mass and the broader worship life of the parish. The Music Ministry welcomes instrumentalists and singers, the Altar Society (founded in 1996) cares for the sanctuary and liturgical environment, and Eucharistic Ministers extend Communion to the homebound and to several area nursing homes. Training is provided periodically throughout the year, including through the Tepeyac Institute for new ministers.

St. Luke offers a particularly rich selection of prayer and study groups for adults, including a weekly Centering Prayer gathering, a long-running Faith Sharing Group, the Spanish-language 'Fe en Acción' (Faith in Action) service ministry, the Hijas de María group, and a Timeline Bible Study series that is currently working through the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Devotions and Special Prayer
Beyond Mass and Confession, St. Luke maintains a steady rhythm of devotions to nourish the spiritual life of parishioners. The Rosary for the Unborn is prayed on the last Sunday of every month, and the Blessed Sacrament Chapel — built as part of recent campus improvements — provides a dedicated space for adoration and quiet prayer. The Guadalupe Chapel hosts the weekly Centering Prayer gathering.
