Parish History
The parish carries forward the heritage of three of Staten Island's oldest Catholic communities, each founded to serve waves of immigrants and families on the island's North Shore.
St. Joseph's, Rosebank (est. 1902)
Father Paolo Iacomino was sent by the Archdiocese in 1901 to lay the groundwork for a new parish in Rosebank, named for the exceptional roses cultivated there. The first Mass was celebrated in 1902 on St. Mary's Avenue. As the island's population grew, so did the parish. The present church was built in 1957, with the school and rectory added in 1963. Originally serving an Irish congregation, the parish came to reflect many ethnicities and traditionally celebrated an Italian Mass on the Feast of St. Joseph.

Immaculate Conception, Stapleton (est. 1887)
Founded in 1887 to serve the Catholic community of Stapleton, the parish ran Immaculate Conception School for generations until its closure in 2013. Today the church at 128 Targee Street continues as an active worship site of the merged parish, hosting the 8:00 AM Sunday English Mass and the 10:00 AM Sunday Spanish Mass.

St. Mary's (est. 1852)
Established in 1852 by Father John Lewis — the second-oldest Catholic parish on Staten Island after St. Peter's (1839) — St. Mary's was a thriving community under its founding pastor, who built the church (1857), rectory (1858), convent, orphan asylum, school, St. Mary's Hall (1878), and a 'Chapel of Ease' in Stapleton (1882). Following the 2015 merger, the historic church was closed, de-sanctified in 2020, and sold for redevelopment.
