St. John the Baptist Catholic Church is the only Catholic parish in King City, California. History
The parish traces its origins to 1776 and was canonically established in 1891. The current church on North Third Street was built in 1949 and dedicated in 1951.
- 1776 — Fray Pedro Font celebrates first Mass in the area
- 1885 — First liturgical services in King City at Brunetti Hotel and Vanderhusrt Hall
- 1891 — Parish canonically established by Bishop Francisco Mora y Borrell
- 1949 — New church constructed on North Third Street
- 1951 — Church dedicated by Bishop Aloysius J. Willinger
- 1968–1992 — Administered by the Scalabrini Fathers
- 2021 — Fr. German Rodriguez becomes pastor
